Congress seeks PM's apology over remarks against Manmohan

New Delhi, Jun 10 (IANS): The Congress on Saturday sought an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his remarks against his predecessor Manmohan Singh and others alleging that they colluded with Pakistan to influence Gujarat election process last year.

Citing an RTI reply received from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on June 1, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said Modi's remarks were based on informal and formal information given to him by multiple sources.

Khera took a dig at Modi for making a statement based on information received from informal sources at a time when he is an elected leader and has pledged allegiance to the Constitution.

Demanding an apology from the Prime Minister, Khera said: "You have set a precedent. What is informal about the constitutional post? You have taken oath under the Constitution. You are gathering information from informal sources and you are questioning the leaders."

"The information sought pertains to the PM speaking during a political campaign. The information sought does not relate to a political matter or a decision of the government. So with regard to the Prime Minister, he is entitled to receive informal or formal information from multiple sources," Khera quoted the RTI plea as saying.

The Congress spokesperson asked Modi to give evidence for his allegations against Manmohan Singh, former Army chief Deepak Kapoor and former Foreign Secretary Salman Haider that they met Pakistani authorities for influencing the election process.

He said: "We have been witnessing for the last four years that Modi loses his patience in any level of election and starts talking strange which no one would have ever heard from any Prime Minister."

"What kind of image of India is he creating before the world, especially when every word of the PM is analysed the world over? He should apologise to the country. The statement was a 'low-level jumla'. If he does not apologise, it will be a serious threat to democracy," Khera said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also tender apology for insulting the city of Bengaluru and the people of Karnataka through his remarks during campaigning.
Modi also made “false and superficial statements” regarding former Indian Army chiefs General K.M. Cariappa and General K.S. Thimayya – both Kannadigas – which proved his “lack of grasp of history” and “incapacity of his army of researchers to feed him correct information”.
In an election rally in Karnataka, Modi claimed that after the 1948 India-Pakistan war, General Thimayya was insulted by then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and Defence Minister Krishna Menon.
However, in 1948 General Thimayya was not the chief of the Indian Army nor was Krishna Menon the Defence Minister. According to the Quint report, PM Modi took Field Marshal Cariappa’s name along with India-China war.
However, Field Marshal Cariappa retired in 1953, 9 years before the 1962 India-China war. He was never badly treated by the Congress, The Quint reported.

For PM Modi fake news, fake tweet, fake degree become norm without any accountability. The Karnataka Congress should ask Modi for apology in written for insulting Kannadigas and their valour.

Good to work as Ministers in India, since easy to confuse our people. Either beat around the religion/epics, Dieties etc or criticise one another and keep on asking for apology and vice versa. Ministers will remain in limelight and their chelas will make money and the people who voted, starving themselves, and happy to clap and chant their names!!

The Modi Sarkar apart from being a Suit Boot Ki Sarkar ahs been a disaster for the last four years with Governance in Auto Pilot Mode and the country drifting aimlessly. The PM has nothng to show case as achievements for the four years rule and so just keep indulging n shadow Boxing of the Congress and their leaders.

Being the PM, he is fed with information from all internal and exeteran agencies and to hide being the unwarranted informal information is an Insult the office of the PM and our country that he has to rely on informal information.

Signs of Desperation given the clear writing on the wall that the people of India have seen through the Jhumla Politics of the BJP. The people of India will organise a state funeral for the Gujarat Model of Development in 2019 after the elections.

You all should vote for Congress and if possible, get it elected. That is the only possible, manlike reply you can give to Modi.
These tactics of seeking apology, making personal jibes etc. will not work anymore.
