Ballari: KSRTC bus and car head-on collision - five die on spot

Ballari, Jun 16: Five persons including a five-year-old died on the spot after a transport bus and car collided with each other head on near Kolur cross near the city on Friday June 15.

All the deceased were occupants of the car. They have been identified as Santosh, Preetham Vinay, Krishna, and Dada Khalandar, all from Kurugodu and surroundings.

The accident happened between a car that was moving towards the city and the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus that was bound for Siruguppa.

The police and locals alike had a hard time extricating bodies which were stuck under the mangled car. As all the occupants of the car had died, full details of the passengers, purpose of their travel etc and addresses could not be immediately ascertained.

District superintendent of police, Arun Rangarajan, Kurugodu police station personnel etc visited the spot and undertook measures to meet legal formalities.

A case was registered in Kurugodu police station and investigation was launched.

    From the picture, it looks like the car is on the wrong side of the road. Sometimes we blame heavy vehicles like buses and trucks when the fault lies with the smaller vehicles. Driving a vehicle is different but SAFE Driving different is different and it is the need of the hour. Now he matter is whoever at fault, precious lives are lost. A little extra precaution by the car driver, would not have occurred this accident. It seems from the names it suggests they are all youngsters, Hot blood.RIP.
