Mangaluru: Workers strike – garbage remains uncollected for days

Mangaluru, Jun 16: Due to the strike by workers, who are into collection of garbage in city, the garbage remains uncollected for the past three days.

The workers strike started on June 14.

As per some Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) reports, the workers have started collecting the garbage since Friday. But the garbage is seen everywhere in city.

Sources at Antony Waste Management Company, which has the contract to collect garbage, said that their company director is expected to arrive from Mumbai on June 16 and workers will hold talks with him.

Even if the workers start collecting now, the garbage of three days cannot be collected in a day. Rains have worsened the state of uncollected garbage in city.

    We all knew this is going to happen when Antony waste management came in to contrac t. This workers problem of not being paid is not a new problem. This kind of in reading contract money used to happen in Newdelhi and Mumbai. Corporation should have given the contract to 2 or 3 contractors according to the areas. So, there would have been a competition and this kind of problem would not have arises.

    The strike need to be attended on priority and steps to be taken to workers to recall the strike since garbage uncollected may create pollution and health problems too.

    Workers are not getting paid Thier salary.
    Because the contractor is not getting his bill paid by the corporation.

    Fine the contractor heavily if he cant perform as per the contract ! why tax payers has to suffer because inefficiency of MCC and Contractor. Where are the supporters of Corporaters and MAYOR now ? Where are those Bajaranga Dhal and VHP group ! where is the PUMPWELL the local leader !

    MCC is ruled by your party, what has VHP / Bajrang Dal got to do with the corporation job, why dont you step out and start cleaning instead of pointing fingers at other. U lack proper sleep and diet take rest and get well soon.
