Mangaluru, Jun 18: Food lovers in the city now have a brand new restaurant to go to for a delicious treat. All set to provide slip-smacking cuisines from Goa, ‘La Goa’, the first Goan restaurant in the city, was inaugurated at Shivbagh on Monday, June 18.
Oscar Fernandes, MP and former union minister, inaugurated the restaurant by cutting the ribbon. Blossom Fernandes, corporator Sabitha Misquith, chief chef Tony, owners Carl Correa and Michael Saldanha were present.
Congratulating the owners, Oscar Fernandes said, "Earlier, we had to travel close to 400 km for taste authentic Goan cuisines. But today onwards, we have to travel only 4 km to taste all Goan delicacies. I appreciate the owners’ bold step taken to set up this restaurant. This is the first Goan restaurant here. We all love food, but also look for comfort. In first look itself, ‘La Goa’ attracts us. I congratulate Carl and Michael on their new venture. Definitely, people will like it and enjoy the taste of Goan food."
Sabitha Misquith said, "It is a proud moment for me as the first Goan restaurant in the city has opened in my ward. The majority of Mangalureans like Goan food. Many a times, I have heard people say that they are visiting Goa only to taste Goan fish cuisines. Now there is no need to travel all the way to Goa to have their food. You will get authentic Goan taste in the dishes here at ‘La Goa’. I wish all the success to the owners and staff of the ‘La Goa’."
Owner Carl Correa said, "Micheal and I love Goan food. The interest and craze for Goan food inspired us start a restaurant here exclusively for Goan food lovers. We know Mangalureans love Goan food. In Gulf counties, we have seen such restaurants. Chef Tony, who has served many five-star hotels in various parts of the country, will be our head chef. He will be the leader for this venture. I hereby request wholehearted support from the people in the city."
‘La Goa’ restaurant is situated on Shivabagh road, Kadri. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian food will be served here. Xacutti, Crab Xec Xec, Prawn Balchao, Cafreal, Goan Prawn Curry and many more authentic Goan cuisines will be served at ‘La Goa’. There is also a counter of 'Crave', a well-known patisserie here specializing in a wide variety of desserts, mousses, cakes, milkshakes, cookies and much more.
