Criminal complaint against Ghulam Nabi Azad, Saifuddin Soz for 'seditious' remarks

New Delhi, Jun 29 (PTI): A sedition complaint has been filed in a Delhi court against senior Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Saifuddin Soz.

A sedition complaint has been filed against Ghulam Nabi Azad for alleged remarks that more civilians were being killed in army operations in Jammu and Kashmir than terrorists.

The plea filed by an advocate has sought action against the politician for offences under sections 124 (sedition), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 505 (1) (spreading rumour about army/navy/air force official which is likely to cause mutiny) of the IPC, claiming that the alleged remarks were painting the Army as killers of innocents which was "nothing less than waging war against the country".

The matter has been listed for hearing on Saturday before a magisterial court in New Delhi.

According to the complaint lodged by advocate Shashi Bhushan, in a TV interview on June 22, Azad had allegedly said the "Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir was killing more civilians than terrorists during military operations in the state."

The complaint also accused the former J&K Chief Minister of spreading hatred and trying to malign the country's image.

Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Saifuddin Soz on the other hand backed former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's statement on Kashmiris’ independence.

Earlier, Musharraf had said if given a chance Kashmiris would want to stay independent.

Speaking to ANI, Soz said, "Musharraf said Kashmiris don't want to merge with Pakistan, their first choice is independence. The statement was true then and remains true now also. I say the same but I know that it is not possible."

The home ministry’s annual report for 2017-18 also showed a 2.44% decline in the number of security personnel deaths over the previous year.

Civilian deaths in Jammu and Kashmir rose by a staggering 167% last year compared to 2015, official data released. As many as 105 houses have been destroyed since 2015 in encounters in Pulwama, one of the two worst militancy-hit districts in south Kashmir, for which IndiaSpend was able to access official figures.

However, its human toll has been well-documented, and was evident when IndiaSpend visited Srinagar’s Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital, where most pellet victims with eye injuries come for treatment. Hospital records show that 1,398 patients have been treated here for pellet wounds from January 2015 to May 10, 2018.

There were Jat protest in Haryana which left Rs35,000 crores losses and more than 20 deaths. The real horror of the protests by the Shri Rajput Karni Sena campaign Against 'Padmaavat 'Seven states, 35 cases registered more than Rs30,000 crores losses to thes state properties. Then 'Patidar' agitation for reservation, Dera Sacha violence in Haryana and so on.
It speaks double standard of the PM Modi's BJP government and its failure to handle issues. It seems BJP has reserved all bullets to Kashmiris while rest of the India can be set on fire for any reason without single bullet.

The BJP, however, ran its national election campaign on a promise of “universal development” (sab ka vikas), which is code to stop what the party considered was the unfair privileging of minority voter groups in the country, including Muslims and Dalits.
In Kashmir, the BJP draws its support from Hindu majority areas, building on concerns around the persecution of Hindus who have been forcibly displaced from the valley. Many BJP supporters go further and claim that not just militants but street protesters are “terrorists” and that most Kashmiri Muslims, as well as activists or others who speak up for their human rights, are anti-India and closet Pakistan supporters. Some demand an end to Jammu & Kashmir’s constitutional status.
In the past, a driving force in policy was the belief that the resolution of the crisis in a Muslim-majority state like Jammu and Kashmir was important to India’s secular identity. To achieve this, and to counter demands for a plebiscite, Indian authorities in the past arrested Kashmiri leaders, rigged elections, but also offered compromises, including a special constitutional status.the security forces were armed with shotgun pellets, which have nonetheless caused serious injuries including permanent damage to the eyes and scores of deaths among protesters and bystanders.

As the part of the 2019 election strategy the BJP's withdrawal from the coalition with deadly cocktail of hyper nationalism is the steps like 'seditious' charges who speak about the atrocities.

None of the Indian media gives right account of the current situation which is alarming to the nation.
The deep divide in the line of Hindu-Muslim in the region is worrying factor post indepence of this nation.
Many of our readers don't know it is the Kashmir issue which is triggering point of the two nation. The danger is lurking which is state in to anarchy despite 7 lakh military and 1000 elite commando force against less than 200 militants.

Also those dwell in army's limelight for self benefit. Give 100% to army what belongs to army don't steal it from them. Those who do this should be punished severely.

BJP should prove before any legal action more civilians are killed than terrorists. Army is executing centre's policies so it's BJP in the centre whose policies are useless. BJP should own responsibility for failure in Kashmir and in bargain killed more civilians and raping women and children and murdering them. Pointing out mistakes for betterment and constructive criticism is not against the nation in a democratic society. How long BJP wants to cover up and hush people.

Azad has all valid proof and facts to prove. BJP will as usual will chicken out of court now with blackened face. BJP has to face reality for not accomplishing and taking up the challenge and walking out of coalition is reason enough for killing of so many civilians.
