Emirates to continue 'Hindu meal' option on its flights

New Delhi, Jul 4 (IANS): Airline major Emirates on Wednesday said that it will continue to provide a "Hindu meal" option on its flights.

The development comes a day after Emirates had said that it will discontinue the Hindu meal option.

"Based on feedback from our customers, Emirates confirms we will continue to provide a Hindu meal option, to make it easier for our Hindu customers to identify and request this option," the airline said in a statement on Wednesday.

"We constantly review our offering, taking into consideration customer uptake and feedback. Food and drink form an integral part of any Emirates flight experience and our menus are created by leading chefs to reflect the culture and preferences of Emirates' diverse customer base."

    I feel this is clever marketing tactics from Emirates. The Dubai-India sector has always been a good revenue stream for the airline since 1985 (the same year Air India started its turbulent period).

    As Holy Guru Sunil says, Heads or Tails, I still win. If no one made a fuss about removal of the 'Hindu meal' option, Emirates would save on operational expenses. If lots of people make a noise, then they say they will continue the menu preference - people feel happy with their victory, many more passengers join the cattle class and Emirates gets FREE and good publicity in India and still makes money.

    Similar situation, if you have wondered why petrol and cooking gas prices keep on increasing but just happen to fall before an election period. Everyone thinks they have won, but who is the real winner ?

    I think Modi pressurized to change the landing destination from HINDUstan to PAKIstan...This could be reason why for the U turn...i dont know what to say about some of the comments related to earlier and they are fainted it seems after reading this....

    Overall who ever travelling From or To India are served with HINDU meal, People eat Raw or half baked Meat in many other countries are served with other type of NoN - veg meat..

    But we Indians are so crazy and fight within ourself and some were even happy to see removal of HINDU tag...How intolerant you guys are even after stay in HINDU soil..

    All these airlines operating between India and Middle East, thrive on passengers from India. Yet they give the worst facilities and charge highest air fair exploiting poor people working in Middle East. Unfortunately, many passengers in this sector are not as sophisticated and as well behaved as the elite crowd from other countries. This does not mean that the airlines can go on reducing the quality of service and keep on making more money.
    Jet airways and Indigo are also some of such airlines which try to exploit the Indian passengers. The leg space between seats has been going on getting reduced, ground service has deteriorated, bus / coach is overcrowed with more passengers than approved capacity, automatic transfer of baggage at airports for transit passengers is withdrawn in some cases, free baggage allowance has been reduced, and many such negative issues have crept in. Comparatively, Emirates has been giving better service.

    Does "Hindu meal" terms for veg or non veg? Because I have noticed in n my vast overseas jouney, most of the hindu passengers prefer non veg menu comparing to any muslim passengers.

    Even in India and around the globe majority hindu (98%) inclined towards non veg...

    Even in hindu holy sriptures non veg was the most relevent food precised.

    Perhaps outer part of the world in myth by considering hindus as pure vegetarians while they watch people are lynched to death for salughtering and eating beef..

    Thanks to Emirates Airlines for inventing new terminology 'Hindu meal' ....had the word been put in by a Hindu ,he would have branded as 'communal'.I hope many hotels in DK,Udupi region and elsewhere hotel owners will use the new word.
    Interestinly Hindu golibaje,Hindu Chattambade, hindu charumburi etc., will come in shortly.

    This is really a very good business tactic. Emirates executive board of members know very well how to handle Indians especially Hindus. Instead of offering Vegetarian meals they gave the option of "Hindu Meal." Either Hindu Meal or Vegetarian meal won't make any sense, but if the fare is cheap, then it will be great.
    Now Modi and his Gang did the same tactic in politics saying we are HINDU and so on. They never said Brahmin, Shetty, Pojary, etc... People got caught in the web and now suffering. If the MP/MLA is a particular group like Shetty, then only Shetty's can enjoy not other Hindus.

    I know some people are getting itching in their.....

    Polite, helpful and friendly staff-Modern Fleet-On time Service-Competitive ticketing prices-Nice , tasty and variety of food to choose from-major routes covered,,, are important for success of any airlines....I am happy Emirates and British Airways are good in all these services...that's why they are successful....

    Catholic means universal. Catholics of every country have different food habits, hence, there is no prescribed Roman Catholic meal. Whatever food we get to eat, we take it as a gift from God and we should not have any uneasy feeling towards it. Take the food given to you and pray before eating "Bless us, O Lord! and these Thy gifts, which we are about to receive from Thy bounty, through Christ our Lord" and that will become the Roman Catholic meal.

    Yes, then Muslims can have only Muslim meals (no Pork, only halal), Christians can have Christian meal (Meat,Fish and Sanna), Jains only Jain meals (no onions,garlic etc), etc,etc.
