Mangaluru, Jul 6: ABVP, the student wing of the BJP, on Friday held protest in front of DC's office condemning the budget presented by the state government.
The protesters alleged that the budget completely ignored the education sector. "There were lots of expectations from the state government. But the budget has neglected the poor, backward and talented students of the state. The state government has failed to provide free bus pass, upgrading the hostels meant for SC/ST students and filling of vacant teachers' posts," they said.
“This is a dull budget for teachers and the students,” said Deekshitha, a member of ABVP.
Meanwhile, tense situation prevailed when some of the students jumped off the barricades installed at the protest.
The students gheroed the police jeep in protest.
The police detained an ABVP member for not moving away from the protest area despite instructions from the police. They later released him and brought the situation under control.
