Mangaluru, Jul 7: Kota Srinivas Poojary, leader of the opposition in legislative council, lambasted the coalition government in the state and said that the budget by chief minister H D Kumaraswamy is only for JD(S).
Addressing the gathering at a felicitation programme organised by district BJP committee at BJP office in the city on Saturday, July 7, he said, “At the time of the formation of government, Kumaraswamy said that he would be the chief minister for all. But now, looking at the budget, it looks like he is the CM only for JD(S). He presented a budget favouring a few districts where JD(S) candidates won. He has taken a revenge on the undivided Dakshina Kannada district by not announcing a single project or programme for this region. But we, the people of the twin districts, will give an apt reply,”
“BJP’s aim is not to sit in the opposition. People elected us as the biggest party in state. So our objective is to give good governance to people and crown B S Yeddyurappa as the chief minister of Karnataka. In a democracy, at the time of forming the government, numbers get more importance. JD(S) and Congress got benefit of this number game and we landed in the opposition. We accept the rules of a democratic state and will become the voice of the people. Now our first priority is to fight against the injustice faced by the coastal region and many other districts,” he added.
“I am the opposition leader. I have a responsibility to speak on behalf of the people of all districts in the state. I will do that without failing. Undivided Dakshina Kannada district is my region. I respond every time when I witness any type of injustice happening on the people of these districts. I will question the government’s negligence towards this region,” he continued.
“In this budget, giving farmers as a reason, Kumaraswamy cheated people of other sections. He found an easy way to increase prices of petrol, diesel and electricity. During the formation of government, he had said that he will waive Rs 34,000 crore loan of farmers. But in the budget, he has kept only Rs 6,000 crore for it. From where will he bring the balance amount? Actually, without any planning and vision he has presented the budget,” he opined.
“MLAs of ruling party are also not satisfied with the budget. Siddaramaiah and Parameshwar are already speaking a different tone over the budget. It indicates that this government will fall within a short period of time. Even Kumaraswamy himself is not confident about his term,” he said.
On his appointment as the leader of opposition, he said, “It is a great opportunity to become an opposition leader. I started my party career from the grass root level as a party worker. But my seniors showed faith in me and today they have given me a big responsibility. I am thankful to all of them."
MLA Vedavyas Kamath, Ravishankar Mijar, Kishore Rai and Udaya Kumar Shetty were present.
Before visiting BJP office, Kota Srinivas Poojary visited Kudroli temple and offered special pooja. Seer of Shivagiri Math Sachidananda Swami performed pooja and blessed Kota Srinivas Poojary.
Uday Poojary Ballalbagh, founder, Biruver Kudla, Rakesh Poojary, Naveen D Suvarna, Sairam, and Sathish Kumpala welcomed him into the temple premises.
