Mangaluru: Adhar card - changes, modifications can be affected in GP offices

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jul 11: The common people henceforth need not move from pillar to post and visit cities to get mistakes in their Adhar cards like name, date of birth, mobile phone number, address etc rectified. From August this year, this service will be available in all the gram panchayat (GP) offices.

Till now, people who wanted to make these changes had to get it done through online services, or by visiting Karnataka One centres, some post offices, offices of the deputy commissioner etc. The data entry operators at gram panchayats have now been given training in making modifications in Adhar cards. Software has been installed in all the gram panchayats. After providing another round of training to these staff, they will be ready make changes as desired beginning in August this year. In all the gram panchayats, a computer will be specially earmarked for making Adhar card changes.

The gram panchayats would not be issuing new Adhar cards. People wanting to make changes will have to provide documentary proof in support of their demand and they have to be approved by the secretary or panchayat development officer, before the data entry operators can make changes.

Additional deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, Kumar, said that this service will be made available in all the gram panchayats in the district by the first week of August this year.

This makes some sense. This will help many people who want to make changes in their Adhar card as the same can be done within their reach at GP offices.
