Udupi, Jul 16: Santhosh Shetty Panjimar, former district president of 'KaRaVe', who was arrested for misbehaving with a lady, owner of a fancy store of Panjimar near Shirva, was remanded to judicial custody till July 28. He was produced at the residence of the magistrate of Udupi sessions court. Santhosh has been taken to Mangaluru prison.
Santhosh Shetty Panjimar (44), a resident of Kodu Panjimar, had allegedly misbehaved with the lady, owner of the fancy store, when she was alone in her shop, by touching her inappropriately. He had forced her to accompany him to a lodge in Udupi and also threatened to kidnap her if the lady does not heed to his demand.
A case is registered under the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act as the lady belongs to scheduled caste. Karkala DySP Belliappa is conducting the inquiry of the incident and a spot inspection was carried out on Sunday, July 15. The car that was allegedly used by the accused has been also confiscated.
