Mangalore: 'Vishwa Konkani Abhiyan' from Oct 12

Mangalore, Oct 8: Konkani Bhas Ani Sanskriti Pratisthan in association with Delhi Karnataka Sangh, Urdu Tehzeeb, New Delhi, Saraswat Sanskriti Mandir, New Delhi, Punjabi Academy, Hindi Academy, and Goa Konkani Academy, will organize a ‘Vishwa Konkani Abhiyan’, from Sunday October 12, in New Delhi.

Former union minister Margaret Alva, and Veerappa Moily, chairman, administration reforms commission, will participate in the inaugural function. Dr V R Panchamukhi, former chairman, ICSSR, will release the book, ‘Mahakavi Govind Pai’ on the occasion.
 
Addressing the media, Basti Vaman Shenoy, Vishwa Konkani Sardar, said the Abhiyan will move all over India where Konkani people are settled in large numbers. He added that the programmes during the Abhiyan would enable Konkani writers, artists, and researchers, to reach out to people from other languages through seminars, workshops, repertories, art, and cultural programmes. It would also help to know the latest trends in the literature and culture of other languages on national and regional levels. 

‘During the Abhiyan, an exhibition and sale of Konkani books will be held. Konkani dictionaries, vocabulary books, creative, and research literature as well CDs and DVDs will be available here. Due publicity will be given to the exhibition in all our publicity materials and handouts, added Shenoy.

He also informed that they have a plan to organize an Abhiyan in Dubai. It would include a seminar, followed by Konkani drama, a music concert and a Konkani food festival. Raghunath Shet, Raghavendra Rao, and Fr Eric Crasta were present on the occasion.
