2 Taliban commanders among 24 killed in Afghan clash

Kabul, Jul 24 (IANS): Two security forces personnel and two Taliban commanders were among 24 killed in an overnight clash in Afghanistan's Ghazni province, police said on Tuesday.

"The clash erupted in Jaghatu and Gelan districts late on Monday in which Taliban divisional commanders Mubaraz Kochi and Khalid were killed," police officer Farid Ahmad Mashal told Xinhua news agency.

Twenty other militants were also killed and at least 17 were wounded.

The Taliban-led insurgency has been on a rampage since the beginning of 2015 when the Afghan security forces took over full responsibilities of security from the US and NATO troops.
