Bengaluru, Jul 25: A government employee, Rajesh Bangera (50), was arrested by the special investigation team (SIT) probing Gauri Lankesh murder. He was produced in the court on Tuesday, after which the court remanded him to 13 days police custody. He is being interrogated now.
Sources claim that this arrest was made on the basis of information collected from Mohan Nayak from Sampaje, Sullia, who was arrested a few days back. Rajesh, a native of Mangaluru, happens to be an employee of education department, and his family lives in Madikeri.

It is said that Mohan Nayak, who was a practitioner of native medicines, and Rajesh Bangera were friends. Rajesh and Mohan Nayak had come into contact with Amol Kale, who is said to be the mastermind behind this murder, through a friend of Kale.
The SIT believes that the accused was not directly involved with the murder but on the face of it, there are indications of him having extended assistance to the killers.
Rajesh Bangera was served with notice for personal appearance, after the SIT got proof about Rajesh and Mohan being in contact with Amol Kale was confirmed.
