M'lore: Police Issue Precautionary Measures to Check Terrorists' Activities

Mangalore, Oct 8: The police department has issued certain instructions to be followed by the government officials, employers and the general public, in the backdrop of bomb blasts that occurred at Bangalore, Ahmedabad and other places recently and also the unearthing of the evidences pointing out to the fact that terrorists have been active in the coastal belt.

1. Inform the policemen as soon as you find some suspicious persons in public places.

2. Never touch or open bags, parcels, packets etc., that are found abandoned in busy places like roadsides, bus stands, railway stations, car parkings, cinema theatres, commercial complexes, court complexes, government offices, hospitals, banks, schools, colleges etc., In such cases, the police stations should be informed without delay.

3. Security guards and workers should be educated on these aspects by mega malls, theatres, hospitals, hostels etc.

4. Before re-starting the vehicles parked at a place for some time, thorough checking of the vehicle should be conducted.

5. If motor bikes, bicycles etc. are parked in a suspicious manner in public places, or if any suspicious bags, packets etc. are found in them, information should be passed on to the policemen.

6. If suspicious acts of digging in busy spots or near the culverts, drains, buildings, dust bins or road ides is found, inform the police immediately.

7. If strangers are found to be taking snaps of important places, commercial complexes, buildings, temples, mosques, churches etc., and if suspicious movements of people are found in these places, the policemen should be apprised of the goings-on.

8. If parcels, packets, tiffin carriers, bags etc., are found to have been deserted in transport vehicles like service buses, city buses, KSRTC buses and trains, the police should be informed.

9. Teachers of schools and colleges should educate students on the need to take precautions as above.

10. Civic workers should be very cautious while handling bags and  packets they find in the dust bins and whenever they suspect foul play, they should inform the police.

11. If suspicions are aroused either about the visitors to the lodges in the city or their activities, the policemen should be informed. The bags and other things they bring in should be checked. Their names, addresses, telephone numbers etc., should be legibly recorded in the ledger.

12. The authorized sellers of explosives and arms and also the dealers of chemicals and acids in the city should never sell them to strangers and people not having licences, under any circumstances. If any suspicious persons try to purchase these things, their photographs should be taken and the police should be contacted.

13. If explosives or suspicious-looking things are found anywhere, never use radios, mobiles and flashes within their vicinity.

14. Heads of hospitals should keep their employees properly informed. The inside and outside of the hospitals as also parking lots should be frequently checked and a vigil should be kept.

The police department has requested the officials and the general public to scrupulously follow the above suggestions and instructions and help the department to manage the situation efficiently.
