Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Oct 8: The citizens Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts have a reason to hope for a coordinated development of the twin districts, as the husband-wife duo will be in-charge of the twin districts. Ponnuraj, newly-appointed deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, had functioned as the deputy commissioner of Udupi district in the recent past, while his wife P Hemalatha worked as the chief executive officer of Udupi zilla panchayat.

Ponnuraj was later transferred from Udupi, and his post was given to his wife. Hemalatha is the deputy commissioner of Udupi district now, and Ponnuraj is expected to take charge of his new posting on Friday October 10.

There are lot of expectations from Ponnuraj, who had shown his mettle in efficiently handling Udupi district affairs. He is coming at a time when the district is facing several problems like the recent church attacks, naxal problem, unearthing of terrorist base etc.
