Mangaluru: 'Swachh Survekshan Grameen’ survey to begin in DK from Aug 1

Mangaluru Jul 27: 'Swachh Survekshan Grameen – 2018’, a survey will commence from August 1 under Swachh Bharath scheme, informed U T Khader, minister for urban development and housing here on Friday July 27.

Addressing the media here at Circuit house, U T Khader said, "Government appointed survey agencies will visit villages in the district to analyse and evaluate the cleanliness of the village and based upon that ranking would be given. State and the district with high ranking will be awarded on October 2 in New Delhi. The Swachh Survekshan Grameen survey will commence on August 1 and will conclude on August 30.

He further said, "This survey will be conducted all over the country in 698 districts by interacting with over 50 lac people. The rankings will be given based on the survey of public places, community cleanliness and their demands, their progress and achievements towards cleanliness,”

"We want Dakshina Kannada to secure top spot and we urge people to maintain cleanliness in public places, schools, colleges, primary health care centres, streets, panchayats and other places. Nearly 230 gram panchayat areas in the district will be undergoing this survey,” said Khader.

Khader inspects new DC office at Padil

U T Khader inspected the construction work of new DC office which is underway at Padil. “The new DC office work is expected to complete by December 2019 and we will have a discussion with chief minister to release additional funds for the construction of the new DC office. We have a plan to provide good canteen facilities for the public at the new DC office,” said Khader.



 

Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil, Zilla Panchayat CEO Dr M R Ravi, former minister Ramanath Rai, former MLA J R Lobo and others were present.
