New Delhi, Oct 10: Reacting to the demand for banning Bajrang Dal that is gaining in momentum day by day and also signals in favour thereof, emanating from the centre, its leaders warned the union government, that banning the organization will prove very costly for the government, with serious political ramifications. It also asserted that such a decision will not stand the test of law.
Bajrang Dal convener Prakash Sharma stated that his organization can in no way be compared with the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). "The government has failed in its efforts to muster enough material in support of the ban placed on SIMI. Do you think it has any proof against our organization?," Sharma questioned.
At the same time, a faction within the Congress is learnt to be opposing such a move, as it feels, that the ban will have adverse impact on the party's prospects in the ensuing elections. The time is not ripe for banning the Bajrang Dal and any such decision might defame the party and its prospects, they feel.
