Bhopal, Jul 31 (IANS): Social worker Vinayak Parihar has written to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and the state Director General of Police expressing fear that he might face mob violence, and that his life could be in danger.
Parihar has been fighting for the rights of sugarcane farmers and against the sand mafia. In his letter he alleged that supporters of a state minister have threatened him.
The social worker is due to meet farmers in Gotegaon, near Jabalpur, on Wednesday. "The threats are related to that meeting," he said.
Social organization, Vichar Pradesh, has demanded of the DGP that Parihar and his family should be given adequate security.
