Kundapur, Jul 31: The police, in a swift action regarding the murder of Guruprasad in Manipal which took place on July 29, took the arrested accused to Kandlur on Tuesday, July 31 for inquiry and further investigation. The suspects had fled in an Omni van belonging to Pradeep Poojary after stabbing Manipal's recreation club owner Guruprasad.
Police who got definite clues had arrested three men near Kandlur bridge in the evening of the day of the crime. The suspects have reportedly confessed that they have thrown the knife and deadly weapons used in the crime below Kandlur bridge after the incident.
A team led by Manipal circle inspector Sudarshan along with Kundapur rural police conducted inquest after taking the suspects to Kandlur bridge.
Dispute regarding Hafta money
Guruprasad, who was murdered and Pradeep Poojary and his accomplices were friends who reportedly indulged in collecting Hafta and ganja peddling. Guruprasad, who owned a recreation club, was demanding the money collected as Hafta to run it. As the remaining friends refused to part with the money, there were frequent fights between Guruprasad and Pradeep Poojary.
According to sources, it has come to light that Pradeep Poojary and his friends reportedly hatched a plan to put an end to Guruprasad.
