India-Pakistan would have remained united had Jinnah been made PM instead of Nehru: Dalai Lama

Panaji, Aug 8 (NIE): India and Pakistan would have remained united had Jinnah been allowed to take over as prime minister, instead of Jawaharlal Nehru, said Dalai Lama at a student interaction at Goa Institute of Management.

“Mahatma Gandhi wanted to give the prime ministership to Jinnah. But Nehru refused. He was self-centred. He said, ‘I wanted to be prime minister’. India Pakistan would have been united (if Jinnah was made prime minister). Pandit Nehru is very experienced. But mistakes do happen,” said Dalai Lama as he answered a question.

A student asked him how can one be sure of the decisions one makes, and if they can avoid making mistakes. Dalai Lama chose Nehru’s “decision” to explain that “mistakes do happen”.

Every effort was made to appease Jinnah to stay in India, but Jinnah was determined to break up India and he refused each and every offer that was made to him.

Gandhiji did make the offer to Jinnah to become India's first Prime Minister, and not only that he could choose his entire cabinet from the Muslim League. Despite some objections from Congress leaders on the plea that the Indian people would not want to see Jinnah and his Muslim league take over the reins of power. However, Jinnah refused to take the job, instead he replied "Your India and my Pakistan or Civil war"

Where did he get this info from? From the movie 'Gandhi?' It is a fiction. Who could have accepted Jinnah as Indian PM? It never happened.
Nehru, in his kindness, saved Lama and his thousands of followers from certain death, gave food, education, place to live etc. And look, how ungrateful this monk is! That too, saying an absolutes lie. Disgusting.

The Dalai Lama should not indulge in politics. The spiritual leader is himself living in India as a refugee and has no courage to speak against or do something to attain the independence of his homeland in Tibet. Inspire students with stories of Buddha instead.

Jinnah contribution to the Independence movement was nil and he got Pakistan 'Free of Charge' from the bankrupt British. If Jinnah were made PM, then India would have been what Pakistan is now - end of discussion.

Only Muslims & Christians can rule the coutry effectively as the history of our country tells us. Rest of us will divide the country on cast, religion, region, Gender, corruption & hatrade like present day rulers.

I, on undisputed terms, agree with you on that.

Irrespective of what Modi-followers' opinion about my this comment is, if BJP gets to rule India for another term, the nation will certainly divide into three parts on religious basis. Well, not before resulting with ample blood-bath from all corners of the country.

Had the Monk been in Pakistan and had said something against the country's history, he would have been thrown out in no time. Athithi-Devo-Bhava works only in India, not in any other country of the world.

Shri Lama must respect the asylum given to him by India, be grateful for it and stop giving stupid statements.

Dalai Lama has been tutored to speak against Nehru..... by calling Nehru self centered he calls all Nehru's descendants self centered; that includes RG as well.

Of course Dalai Lama's statement 'self-centered' is perfectly aligned with the 'family dynasty' accusation hurled against RG by our great pM and his blind and ardent bhakts.

This is the stark reality faced by all Indians; 'skewed' statements brewed so vehemently by the media machines of our present rulers with the sole intent of poisoning minds and thinking of peace loving Indians.

"India-Pakistan would have remained united had Jinnah been made PM instead of Nehru: Dalai Lama".

India -Pakistan-Bangladesh remained united if Jinnah made PM instead of Nehru but by this time the whole of India could be another Syria, Afghanistan, or Somalia.

Now only three parts but if Jinnah was the first PM it could be thirty countries.

This was the fundamental error by the hunger for ultimate power...
Nehru was indeed self centered and it precipitated downwards in his clan...
But in a way error probably was a good omen for larger Indians...
We see how pseudo are Pakis...
They are not pure as the name stands for...
They are purely jealous, centric, largely intolerant bunch...
We are saved by a selfish step by our first PM...
