Kundapur: Truck overturns after colliding with bus, palm oil spills on road

Kundapur, Aug 23: In an accident that occurred on the late night of Wednesday, August 22, near the Thekkatte petrol pump on NH 66, a truck carrying palm oil packets overturned after a bus, which was trying to overtake the truck, collided with it.

The driver of the truck got away with minor injuries but the palm oil packets that were in the truck spilled all over the road causing a loss of several lac rupees.

The private bus that was plying from Mangaluru to Hubballi, hit the truck from behind, in a bid to overtake, that was transporting the palm oil belonging to a private company of Hubballi. While the truck overturned due to the impact, the bus hit a nearby electric pole.



The passengers of the bus got enraged over the bus operator, who did not make alternative arrangement for their journey. Kota police arrived at the spot and conducted the preliminary investigation.

    Stupids concern over loss of oil. What about the danger of oil on road, causing a slippery surface?

    RTO should immediately confiscate the operating permit of this bus company, sending strong signal to the transport mafia ( that is if they have the guts).

    The Bharati bus owners are actually cheaters...
    They dont take responsibility at all...
    If we book the bus for any events they never come on time
    Drivers are not permanent anyone will drive the bus if any kind of losses happen they dont pay
    one of the worst service they give

    Ever wondered where and how palm is produced? Pakodas at the cost of what? Cutting pristine rain forest, massive destruction of wildlife habitats, causing widespread smoke/burning. I plead everyone to stop using palm oil, yes it is cheap but if we as educated citizens can't make a good choice of not using sustainable products, not sure who else we can ask? Just type "palm oil destruction" on google and see how much info we can get on how it is impacting our mother earth. OR if we choose the path of, "who cares and its cheap to buy" path, so be it and we will learn the lesson when mother nature gives us back in a different form. When we as consumer stop buying these products, companies that produce these change their habits...Its plain simple, if the business is not profitable, why do it in the first place? I am not writing this to reply to a comment, but in general for us to make educated choices in whatever we consume in our day-to-day life.

    All refined oil is made from edible grade paraffin which is basically a petroleum product. In a way even palm oil may be better than refined oil.
