Udupi, Aug 24: After the report of the Mangaluru forensic science laboratory report about Shiroor Swamiji's death cleared all doubts about foul play in his death by certifying it to have been caused by natural clauses, the focus has now turned on the statement about 'suspicion of poisoning' made by the medical superintendent of KMC Hospital Manipal on the day of the Swamiji's death on July 19 this year.

After the unexpected demise of Sri Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji on July 19, the medical superintendent of the said hospital had, in a written statement, said that there was suspicion of poisoning and that toxicological samples had been sent. Explaining the same in Kannada, he had said that there was suspicion of poison having been ingested to the Swamiji. This particular sentence had given rise to lot of suspicions and rumours. It is said that the police, in order to keep the records straight, have sought clarification from expert doctors of the hospital on this aspect.

The police are yet to conclude investigation into the Swamiji's death, although post-mortem and forensic science laboratory reports have been received. Before the investigation can be concluded, the police want to have every point of doubt clarified from specialists.

It is gathered that the police department had sent questionnaire to the doctors who conducted post-mortem examination. After the receipt of the forensic science laboratory report too it had sent another questionnaire. It is said that the doctors concerned have furnished their replies for both the questionnaires.

Now, doctors at KMC Hospital Manipal are expected to match the findings of the post-mortem report and forensic science laboratory report and provide the final report to the police department. Once this report is received, the police are expected to make public the final report. Sources also say that the video clips of the digital video recorder which had been tossed into the river, which had been sent to Bengaluru for retrieving the footage, too are yet to be received by the police department.

Dr.Shivshankar has given good attention since I met him first time.

Moreover, the panel of doctors handling this matter will never jeopardize their own credibility.

What do they gain out of all this?
