Mumbai, Oct 19: An annual programme ‘Karanthotsava – 2008’, was organized by the Sadananda Suvarna Cultural Organization (R) at Samarasa auditorium of Karnataka Sangh in Matunga on Saturday October18.

The chief guest was famous litterateur and critic V G Nayak, who paid floral tributes to Karanth’s portrait and inaugurated the programme. Karanth was loyal, modest, and genius, with the power of great experience. Life is said to be complete after reading Karanth’s novels since his writings are meaningful and useful even in marital life, said Nayak. Hence, remembering such a personality through a lecture is not sufficient. Instead, his temperament should be an inspiration to the youth, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, the founder of the organization, Sadananda Suvarna said that Dr Shivram Karanth was the personality of the 20th century. The Kannadigas residing in Mumbai celebrate Karanthotsava as a means of introducing his achievements and preserving his love for the youth.

The winners of the drawing competition were given mementos. Later, the film ‘Kubi Mattu Iyala’, based on the achievements of state award winner late Poornachandra Tejasvi, directed by Sadananda Suvarna was telecast.
