Bantwal: Former GP president becomes victim of venomous snakebite

Bantwal, Aug 26: A woman, who has turned ill after having been bitten by a snake, breathed her last without responding to treatments.

The deceased was Tunga Gopal (45), wife of Gopal Gowda from Hosamane, Kukkala village. She was a former president of Madanthyar gram panchayat.

She was working in her farm on July 30 when a snake, species of which could not be identified, bit her. She was admitted into a private hospital at Mangaluru for treatment.

Without responding to efforts made to save her, she passed away on Saturday August 25. She was a member of Punjalkatte Sri Murughendra Vanitha Samaj and secretary of Manjalpalke Jai Hanuman Bhajana Mandir.

    Dr. Can we buy this without prescription? How much it cost and how long we can keep it? In our village I am seeing King Cobras are in large number.

    But available only at one site
    Haffkine institute Head office Parel Opp KEM hospital Mumbai
    You need to keep in Fridge
    Very cheap not costly
    You need 10 vials minimum
    Maximum 30 vials
    Mode of treatment
    By Intravenous infusion diluted in Normal saline over a period of 30 minutes
    First give 10 vials if no response then give another 10
    Need one Dr at all times
