Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (EP)

Mangaluru, Aug 31: In an act violating the law, police while escorting a notorious rowdy from Mangaluru jail stopped their vehicle on the roadside and allowed his family members to meet him.

They have allowed Deal Naufal, an accused in the double murder case in Farangipete, to meet his wife, child and family members. The incident took place in front of Kadri police station.

Police from Tumakuru were escorting the accused Mangaluru jail in connection with a case.

People have expressed anguish for stopping the police vehicle in the middle of the road so that the accused could meet his family members which was violating rules. It is alleged that favouring the accused without the permission of higher authorities is an example of dereliction of duty.

Just have a bit of heart be a bit humane......there was the guy wanting to see his child.....what if you were in his place......rules and laws are made for man by the man.......man lives by rules and rules don't live by the man. Nothing has happened no one escaped , the policeman also appears to have felt sorry for the guy , maybe he remembered his own son.

    Dear Paul, Mangalore,

Naufal, Naveen, or Nelson, there is a rule of law in place. Police should follow that. Family can meet any accused in custody but for that, certain procedures are there. If accused is in police custody, then Police inspector who is In charge of such custody can permit the family members to meet the accused. And if it is Judicial custody then, Superintendent of Jail or the Court approval is must to meet any accused.

    Thank you

    Sandeep,

you are explaining as if no one knows what the rules are! The point which Paul has mentioned is that, this is a common phenomenon and is blown out of proportion just because the undertrial happens to belong to a minority community.

All of us know that all Indian government departments, especially the police are corrupt to the core.

    pooki, mangaluru,

Playing minority card in such issues will lead more problems in society. When minority themselves condemn such incidents there will be more peace in society. My point is we should think beyond religion, Name, and Surnames. Most of the times our comments depend on the names and surnames in the news. You agree or not this is fact in India.

Undertrials belonging to minority community should be handled very carefully. That too, in this case the undertrial is accused of double murder!!!

Bade bade deshon me eisi choti choti baat hoti rehta hai. In India money is a prime mover. In Mumbai, some years back, a smuggler's wife became pregnant, still that smuggler being in jail, since, he was allowed to go to his home every night and return to jail before sun rise.
