Mangalore, Oct 22: Students of SCS Nursing Institutions staged a protest by blocking the road at Bendorewell Circle after a staff nurse intern was killed in a road accident here on Wednesday October 22.

SCS student Febin Paul was on his way to the Hospital when a city bus knocked him down at Mother Theresa Convent Road. He died on the spot. He was a resident of Aluva in Ernakulam district in Kerala.

Accident led to protest by the students who blocked the road for half an hour against the reckless driving by the city bus drivers. They submitted memorandum to the district commissioner and superintendent of police to open Balmata-Bendorewell road for buses without delay and to depute sufficient police staff at the circle near Mother Theresa Convent to avoid accidents in future.

According to them, this is the third accident occurred at the same spot within a few days' gap. Students and staff of the SCS Hospital also asked the officials concerned to cancel the driving licence of the bus driver. A complaint has been filed in the Kadri police station in this regard.

My heartfelt condolence to the parents of the departed. Dear Monte, Mumbai, you have written "This is total rubbish" I don't see anything in those students who are fighting for what is right. It is very frightening to travel in those city buses, where the drivers are so reckless and fast.

Really it is a very sad news. But this type of death and accident are common in and around Mangalore. Immediately the people are protesting against this type of accident and deaths. After some time the citizen of Mangalore will forget the incident and the bus drivers will continue to do this type of accidents. We should continue our protest and find a permanent solution for this kind of accidents and deaths.

My heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family. We should condemned & stop reckless driving, overtaking compettion amoung the route buses. These are main causes of the accident. Most dangerous are Mangalore Auto drivers, they are driving on the Air not on the road ,.

Sad news for young people who were around Febin and to His family. This accident do not make any difference for Mangalore Bus drivers or Bus Owners. May be it created a avenue for shuffling few bucks here and there for-Guess Who? There are many more chances that incidents like this will happen near this school.

The school authorities are busy in enlarging the school so more money can be made. They are not worried about providing some land for school bound vehicles to children. I am very proud about the students who stoodup. You did not destroy any property nor hurt any one physically like other communal parties do.

It is fight worth for public. And for you Montie here is the message for you.Try to stop MNS(Mumbai Navinirman Sena)from doing what they doing by writting to Raj and we Mangaloreans will handle our problems. Youth are future and they will handle their future.

Its not the same old peace loving place now.and I think you havent been in a situation where in you will find the need to come to streets to protest, I hope a situation nevers comes for you,but please dont blame others who have seen this day in and day out.

Unless we protest nothing is going to change. I dont want to argue with you at this time, but please feel the sorrow of his friends who did this so that such incidents dont happen again...

This is totally rubbish. If the drivers do such a kind of mistake, directly hang him in front of the public.no need to take him for the police station. Then the other stupid drivers will take care while driving.Rules and regulation must be very strict in mangalore, because it is a fast growing place.

Dear Monthi from Mumbai, If people are taking to the streets, there is a reason. If you had lost somebody, you would have done the same thing. The family that has lost someone only realizes the loss. Why would you care ? You have not lost anybody(god forbid!!)
