Hyderabad: Moment of pride - DCP father salutes SP daughter!

Daijiworld Media Network - Hyderabad (SP)

Hyderabad, Sep 4: The Telangana Rashtriya Samiti (TRS) rally organized here on Sunday September 2 witnessed a phenomenon which would make anyone proud.

In this incident, deputy commissioner of police (DCP), A R Umamaheshwara Sharma, as soon as he came face with superintendent of police (SP), Sindhu Sharma, stood in attention and saluted her. This surprised people who were present there, as Sindhu Sharma happens to be the DCP's daughter.

It is learnt that during the four years since when Sindhu has been working as SP, this was the first time the father-daughter duo came across each other during duty hours. Although DCP Sharma is of the same grade as his daughter, he expressed his respect to his daughter as he is from state cadre.

Umamaheshwara Sharma, who has been in police service since the last three decades, is set to retire next year. He is deputy commissioner at Malkajgiri Hyderabad now. His daughter had passed IPS and joined police service in the year 2014.

When questioned by the media, the DCP said that although Sindhu is his daughter at home, when on duty, he has to respect her status. Sindhu said she was looking after women's security at the programme and that she is happy that she got an opportunity to work with her father for the first time.
