Mangaluru, Sep 5: Dances that bring back the nostalgia of one’s childhood, retro performances that remind one of the 70’s, fun-filled games and laughter marked teacher’s day celebrations at St Agnes College on Wednesday, September 5.

A special programme was organised by St Agnes College Parents Teachers Association for the teaching and non-teaching faculty of St Agnes College.

In a special message to the teachers, St Agnes Institutions joint secretary Sr Maria Roopa AC stressed on the need of having inspired teachers who instill values such as sacrifice, tolerance, understanding and compassion among students.

“In the fast changing world of today where new ideas, values and concepts are rapidly changing, the importance of quality education has increased. The education has to liberate a person from a narrow world view and the boundaries of caste, community, race and gender. Teachers have been entrusted with the responsibility of moulding young minds to understand the world and make it better,” she said.

The student’s council had organised various games for the teachers of which, Lagori was the highlight event. Winners of the games were felicitated. College principal Sr Jeswina AC felicitated every staff member and appreciated their service.

St Agnes College PTA Vice President Blossom Rego and other members performed dances and also entertained the teachers with a mash-up of old and new bollywood songs. To add more excitement, games were held which tested teachers for their logical thinking and wit.

Teachers who will retire next year were felicitated. PTA member Linette JS compered the programme. The event culminated with a lunch organised by Blossom Rego and family.
