Fuel prices continue to rise, petrol costs Rs 87.39 per litre in Mumbai

Mumbai, Sep 7 (DC): Fuel prices continued to rise on Friday, with petrol being sold at Rs 79.99 per litre and diesel at Rs 72.07 per litre here in the national capital.

The price of petrol has been increased by 48 paise per litre, while diesel saw a hike of 52 paise per litre, as compared to Wednesday's prices in New Delhi.

In Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai petrol cost Rs 87.39, Rs 86.41and Rs 83.13 per litre respectively. Diesel in Mumbai cost Rs 76.51 per litre, in Kolkata Rs 74.92 and in Chennai Rs 76.17 per litre

The Congress has decided to call a nationwide bandh on Monday, September 10 over the issue of rising fuel prices. Announcing the decision of the party communications, incharge Mr Randeep Singh Surjewala said, “The Congress party has decided that we will be giving a call for Bharat Bandh on September 10, Monday, in order to highlight the Rs 11 lakh crore fuel loot and to demand an immediate reduction in central excise duty as also excessive VAT in the state.”

The surge in fuel prices is largely attributed to the rise in crude oil prices and high excise duty in the country. The recent slump in the rupee has also lifted the import cost of crude oil, subsequently affecting the fuel prices. On Wednesday, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had said that there was no need for a “knee-jerk” reaction to the rising prices of global crude oil.

90 ML Liquor costs more than 1 Litre of Petrol. But nobody questions the high cost of Liquor, but why?
Human beings can live without both of them, but why Liquor cost is so high???
Only some of the people consume Liquor, but cost is too much, that to it's being prepared locally. Fuel we need to import from Overseas.
We are ready to pay any price for Liquor but not Fuel, why?
Shun vehicles, pollution will decrease, no traffic problems, roads will be intact, many lives will be saved, no accidents, no road rages, no fights, no price rise issue. Use public transport, people can mingle with everybody.
There is much happiness if you travel by public transport.
Also make a habbit of walking which is good for health.

U may afford to pay high price on liquor & petrol, but every body may not be as rich as U r? U may be young & healty but don't expect us senior citizens to walk in the filthy potholes, crowded without proper foot path roads! Govts r applying high rate of tax on both. Hence both products should be brought under GST! Enjoy your ride on over crowded public transport in Bangalore!

When there was a similar situation of price hike during ex-PM Manmohan Singh's rule, you opposed it vehemently, with protests and bandhs, without analyzing the economic conditions of the world economy. I am happy that you guys now talk about the world economy and are searching for reasons to support PM Modi and his corrupt and communal ministers for their copy paste governance, who are only capable of changing the names of the old projects and schemes of earlier government. Other than disastrous decisions like demonetization, GST and protecting the cows of our country, this government has only followed what the earlier government has done.

If fuel prices are market driven .....
At Least give us smooth highways and pothole free city roads to drive, which can cut down our fuel consumption and reduce vehicle maintenance.

We may have to deal with fuel prices for another 15-20 years, until the Solar energy, electric vehicles & Nuclear power take charge and cuts down fuel imports significantly. By 2022 Indian railways will all be electrified.
Till then play Modi Modi and Rahul Rahul game but nothing is going to change..
