90% Indians have toilet facility today: PM Modi

New Delhi, Sep 12 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that 90 per cent of Indians have toilet facility at their homes now as his government had got 8.3 crore toilets constructed since 2014 to make the country free of open defecation.

"Today, 90 per cent Indians have toilet facility, which was only 40 per cent before 2014. Over 4.15 lakh villages, 430 districts, 2,800 towns, 19 states and Union Territories have been declared open defecation-free," the Prime Minister said through a video posted on his Twitter account.

The Modi government came to power in May 2014 and constructed the toilets under the Swachh Bharat Mission.

He said the World Health Organisation had expressed the possibility of saving lives of three lakh Indian children by the use of toilets.

Modi called upon the countrymen to come together at 9.30 a.m. on September 15 to mark the commencement of the "Swachhata Hi Seva Movement". The campaign will continue till October 2.

"On October 2, we mark the start of Gandhiji's 150th birth anniversary. It is also the day Swachh Bharat Mission completes four years of being a historic mass movement aimed at fulfilling Bapu's dream of a 'Clean India'. The ‘Swachhata Hi Seva Movement' is a great way to pay tributes to Bapu. Come, be a part of this movement and strengthen the efforts to create a Swachh Bharat!

"I look forward to interacting with those who have worked assiduously on the ground to strengthen the Swachh Bharat Mission after which cleanliness activities will begin. I salute all those working towards a Swachh Bharat!" he said.

90% of Indians have toilet facility today: PM Modi.

Ha...Ha...Ha... Modi if you think 90% Indian have toilet facility, then why all the fecal diseases are there in India.
You have to take worm tablets every year and if not your stomach will fill with roundworms.
Many places especially in North India where BJP is ruling many people are getting diarrhea, typhoid, cholera, polio, and hepatitis. Modi you better to keep shut and do not bluff.

The Gujju-bhai is probably speaking from his relative experience.

Prior to becoming the PM, if he travelled anywhere, there was 90% chance he could not find a toilet when he needed one.

But, after becoming the PM, if he travels anywhere in India, there is a 90% chance someone ensures a toilet is available to the Gujju-bhai.

So, as he lacks education, he thinks everyone has a 90% chance of getting a toilet when one is needed.

Moral of the story: elect people who have some basic education. So we get an educated PM.

Since the prime minister of India is saying, it has to be accurate. What ever the case, the people who did the count of toilets all across the country and arrived at the 90% figure needs to be recommended to the Nobel Prize committee as well as Bharat Ratna.
How long the common people of this country can get fooled by our political leadership is the question that needs to be answered .

Toilet proposal for all is the best thing you have done PM saab but this is not your project it has been since ages only thing you have stressed for make more toilets and using them but cleanliness of these toilets is nowhere there and half of the toilets built are not functioning so what was the use of these and spending so much of money and most are not used because there is no water for cleaning them so you project is a failure

First it was construction of Ram Mandir. Next it was cleaning Ganga. Now this latest Modi has come down to toilet facilities. None of theses will be achieved by BJP at any time. This is only to allotting money on these and getting sanctioned and then goes into our so called 'patriots' pockets.

You will know the truth - 90% do not have toilets in these two localities -- given as example. Look at the all India SCENARIO.??
