Agra authorities ban anti-green Ganesha idols

Agra, Sep 13 (IANS): The Agra district administration on Thursday imposed a ban on the sale and immersion of Ganesha idols made of Plaster of Paris in the Yamuna river and community ponds.

Additional District Magistrate K.P. Singh's advisory also warned of stern action against those using banned colours in the idols or playing loud music while taking out processions on the streets.

The Agra Municipal Corporation has dug up immersion ponds at the Yamuna ghats.

This year, a large number of voluntary groups have promoted ecological idols of Ganesha. Rallies have been taken out to sensitise people.
