Maoist killed in Jharkhand


Ranchi, Sep 14 (IANS): A Maoist guerrilla carrying a bounty of Rs 1 lakh was killed on Friday in gunfight with the security forces in Jharkhand's Gumla district, police said.

According to a police statement, the security forces raided Bodkera village after receiving a tip-off that the victim Krishna Gope, an area commander, was holding a meeting with at least four other guerrillas.

While the others managed to escape, Gope was surrounded by the security forces. He retaliated with firing, triggering the gunfight, the statement added.
