People will pay for this government's follies: Chidambaram

New Delhi, Oct 5 (IANS): Targeting the Narendra Modi government, senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram on Friday said that people will have to pay a "heavy price" for the government's "follies".

"The kindest thing that can be said about the government's handling of the current volatile situation is: 'They are clueless'," Chidambaram tweeted as key Indian equity indices crashed by over two per cent during the day.

"People will pay a heavy price for the follies of the BJP-led NDA government. It is time for some BJP MPs and allies to speak their mind," the Congress leader added.

Lately, a weak rupee and high crude oil prices have plunged the Sensex by over 2,000 points in only three previous trading sessions, while the Nifty50 has shed over 650 points.

Belying market expectations of a hike, the Reserve Bank of India on Friday held its key lending rate unchanged but turned hawkish, moving to a "calibrated tightening" from the "neutral" stance it had maintained.

people will pay heavily for the stupidest mistakes done by the govt. what congress govt gave in last 70 years people will know automatically. only blind love for religion will be a curse of poverty. time & again it is proved except congress rest can not run the country. if not people of india who witnessed waht is poverty in 60's 70's & 80's will not select congress. till 1990 in Udupi Kerosin ,cement, cars, rice & groceries was a monopoly business. All sold in black . who were the businessmen ? none other than present so called desh bhakts. now all of them joined politics to save their ill gotten wealth. this time no promise of Achche din. this time in India hindu's are in danger .
No exports/no employment/expensive healthcare & education . weak indian rupees next generation will suffer & pay very badly.

Of course, this BJP government is indeed clueless about addressing the problems faced by the country. Without an iota of doubt, there is something very seriously wrong with the way the country is being run. A country as large as India can't be run on the whims and fancies of a couple of people. There is certainly a dearth of talent in this government. With the exception of one or two good ministers, the others are just there to make up the numbers. Either they are inefficient or they are not allowed to do anything by the man who controls everything. It is a very very sad state of affairs, indeed very alarming. I wonder what qualification and experience the present PM has to run such a large country. Just look at his background and compare it with the one Dr. Manmohan Singh or Chidambaram have. Both these persons are very highly qualified and with loads of experience in government. They may have their own limitations - one is too mild a person and the other is not known for his uprightness - but when its comes to governance and intelligence, they are miles ahead of the present PM who is nowhere even close to them. This country certainly needs people of the calibre of Dr. Singh and Chidambaram. We have had enough of the present buffoons who are only good in making lofty promises. It is like giving a stick in the hands of a monkey who doesn't know what to do with that. Why can't we find a bunch of good, efficient and intelligent policy makers to govern this country? The people certainly need much better than what this BJP government is doing. This government has given a very poor account of itself. The earlier we find an alternative to this bunch of non performers, the better it is for India.

A corrupt person saying people will pay for this Govt follies??? Sounds strange. He refused to contest due to fear of loss and his son got a ticket and lost his deposit. Forgot it. Will remember again in 2019 if he gets a ticket.
