Congress likely to win big in MP, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh: Opinion poll

New Delhi, Oct 7(PTI): In what may not be a very encouraging development for the Narendra Modi-Amit Shah-led BJP, the saffron party is likely to face defeat in the upcoming assembly elections in three key states - Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh – according to the latest opinion poll.

The opinion poll conducted by ABP News-CVoter predicts that the Narendra Modi-powered BJP may face defeat in MP, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan where it has been in power for many years.

The survey predicts that Rahul Gandhi-led Congress will do exceptionally well in these three states in the upcoming assembly elections.

The survey predicts that the Congress is best placed in Rajasthan, where its state president Sachin Pilot is the first choice of the voters for the Chief Minister's post.

The survey claims that the Congress may return to power in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh after a gap of 15 years and is also likely to make an easy comeback in Rajasthan, where there is a strong anti-incumbency factor against Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje-led BJP government.

The survey claims that there will be a very small difference between the projected vote shares of the two main parties and a minor swing in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh can turn the tide in the favour of either of the two.

Interestingly, the ruling BJP had on Saturday expressed confidence that it would register a "record victory" in the upcoming state assembly elections and retain power in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.

Senior BJP leader and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad had said the saffron party would secure a record victory on the basis of its hard work and development measures, besides the performance of its governments in the three states.

The survey claims that if the assembly polls are held now, the Congress is likely to win 142 seats in Rajasthan against the BJP's 56.

A young Sachin Pilot is way ahead of Raje as the popular choice for the Chief Minister's post with 36 percent voters preferring him, while the latter is the first choice for 27 percent.
State's former chief minister and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot enjoys the backing of 24 percent voters for the top post.

In the 230-member Madhya Pradesh Assembly, Congress is likely to win nearly 122 seats and 47 in the 90-member Chhattisgarh Assembly.

The BJP has been projected to bag 108 and 40 seats in these two states respectively.

However, in these two states, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his Chhattisgarh counterpart Raman Singh are the first choice of the voters for the hot seat, despite anti-incumbency sentiments against their governments.

The Congress and the BJP have been predicted to bag 42.2 and 41.5 percent votes in Madhya Pradesh and 38.9 and 38.2 percent votes in Chhattisgarh respectively.

There is, however, a huge gap in the projected vote share of the Congress and the BJP in Rajasthan, with the opposition party being backed by 49.9 per cent voters against the 34.3 per cent share for the ruling dispensation.

The BJP had secured power in all the three states in 2013 by winning 165, 142 and 49 seats in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh respectively as against the 58, 21 and 39 seats of the Congress.

The Election Commission (EC) on Saturday announced that the assembly polls in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan and Telangana will be held between November 12 and December 7.

While Chhattisgarh will go to the polls in two phases on November 12 and 20, the elections in Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram will be held on November 28.

Polling in Rajasthan and Telangana will be held on December 7.

Counting of votes will be taken up in all the five states on December 11.

It is dangerous to underestimate Amit Shah. Mayawati has formed an alliance with Ajit Jogi in Chhatisgarh to split Congress votes. Shah undoubtedly has tricks up his sleeve to split Congress votes in MP and Rajasthan.

Rathan, yesterday in one of your comment U were asking me why I am repeating the language used by Rajesh & Raju ! Now look at the language U used! U can't expect every one to go to court to prove the malfunctioning of EVMs! Our courts have enoug pending cases to settle, probably some of them dating back to more than 25 years old. I would bet U that BJP's winning trump card is only EVMs! That is the reason U people r supporting use of EVMs!

Like it or not, only EVMs can rescue BJP this time. It's not because people find Congress as their saviour but no one wants their rulers to be cheats and liers. Look at the fate of fuel and other commodities prices, look at the employment situation, what this government has done to resolve these issues? Allowed fraudsters to leave the country with lakhs of crores? Awarded big defence and other contracts to friends, consolidating their position in global richness ranking?. People with common sense have realized that Hindutva was just a trick to garner votes of the masses, and the leaders and their corporate cronies don't really care for it, if they did, the promised Temple at Ayodhya would have meterialised by now.

Difference between EC accounted EVM and home ministry accounted EVM is in thousands. Where the numbers should have been same. Because EC itself the sole owner of EVMs procured not home minstry. With every malfunctioning EVM voting for BJP irrespective of vote pressed for other parties is most likely the reason. Only if vote swing against BJP is too much ..say over 10percent ...oppositiin could win with an margin of 1 to 2 points.

Then if Congress looses then there will be Moral Victory na
So if loose also Congees will say they have won
Then while loosing they will blame EVM inspite of VVPAT
I have seen in Kaun Banega crorepati
There was a question on VVPAT they lady could not answer .These are Indian Voters
Such a foolproof method VVPAT has been introduced and still if Congress says then there will be many Non Bhakts who will believe that .And if Congress wins like in Punjab then EVM was correct
    Ha Ha Ha

Even a staunch Modi loyalist accepts that everything Modi promised was a just gimmick to win polls. Even the hidden mask of non-corrupt too exposed so clearly that they question who on earth will walk into a shop and says ohh..price is INR100, i want to buy it for 1crore paying but not taking delivery.

Petrol prices and nose diving INR against USD proves that all what been told is pure lie.

Yes, there are still a few mahapurush .who think corrupt BJP is better than corrupt congress. BJP corruption keeps the money in India while the congress corrupt money flies abroad. Funny thing is whoever ran away from india with huge amounts of money were funding BJP emergence against congress. Why they ran? They ran because BJP no longer needed them as now they have access to RBI itself. Keeping them is more of a threat.

Like Gujarat at first the Congress has more chances of winning in MP and Rajasthan.
Remember in Gujarat ,Congress snatched defeat from the jaws of Victory.
This was due to Jenuvdhaari ,Shiv Bhakt's antics and Modijis last minute blitzkrieg.
If RaGa is kept away Congress may win.
Otherwise it is difficult to say. Modijis influence still cannot be ruled out if it comes to a photo finish.
Sachin and Jyothiraaditya can win on their own too.
This is my own and honest assessment.

History also has plenty of examples wherein a truth was violently countered whereas lies were lapped up like lollipops!. Current BJPeeee government is the best example!. I leave the job of counting my agrees and disagrees to you!. I have other work too!

Let the polls in these states be the biggining of the end of a totally failed experiment with the BJP across the country. The country rightly deserves this change from Jhumla Politics. A coalition Govt will ensure checks and Balances for Governance especially for Law and Order and to fight corruption. There has been no accountability for corruption under the BJP and so it has become more rampant across the country.

Most of the poll surveys seems to be sponsored by BJP when Congress with other parties jointly bounce back keep the present ruling party out but they need to take caution about EVM tampering in the polls.
