Bantwal: Death of girl in hospital - parents complain of medical negligence

Bantwal, Oct 13: In connection of the death of an 11-year-old girl, her parents have filed complaint on October 12 in the town police station here, charging the doctors attending to their daughter of causing her death by their negligence.

Rakshitha (11), second daughter of Vittal Poojary from Agrar here, who was a fifth standard student of Agrar church school, had breathed her last on Friday October 11.

Rakshitha had suffered from fever on Wednesday after which she was examined and given medicines at the government hospital here. She attended her school as usual on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday she suffered from fever again. The parents took her to the same hospital again.

Blood test was done and as per the doctor's advice, Rakshitha was put on drips. Later she began to suffer from shivering accompanied by fever, and also started vomiting. Therefore, the parents were advised to take her to Wenlock Hospital Mangaluru for further treatment.

The girl was admitted in Wenlock Hospital but without responding to treatments, she breathed her last on October 11.

The parents have mentioned in their complaint that the negligence of doctors at Wenlock Hospital was responsible for their daughter's death.

Police sub-inspector of the station, Chandrashekhar, who has registered the case, is investigating it.

    Well, if it is a case of negligence it maybe a contributory negligence case maybe the doctors advised rest but the child was still sent to school or maybe the correct symptoms weren’t reported however without having any proof about the case no judgement can be passed and neither the hospital nor the patient party can be blamed... it is right for us to wait till appropriate evidence has been found

    In that case of UP case was filed
    Here in Karnataka a new law has been passed called
    KPME act
    Only private hospital s are covered for filing case
    No case on Govt Hospitals
    So nowadays private hospitals in Karnataka don't take risk
    Understood ?????

    Poor people, poor thinking... Whatever the doctors did was according to their experties ..the parents should be held, accountable for poor upbringing, which in turn led to poor immunity of child and just minor infection could kill her.. Anyhow without Post mortem we won't know exact cause... Wenlock is Best govt hospital and the taluka hospital lack minimum facility for good doctor to practice.

    Just Knowing and commenting in English seems to be your Idea of being Rich.
    Anyways ..the humble family has lost a child ...Pray to god to give them strength to overcome this loss.

    Well ..who is at fault is a matter of investigation and the parents have every right to accuse someone who they feel has done wrong.

    Wenlock hospital is one of the best managed govt hospital in Karnataka as it has PPP arrangements with KMC
    Here the Bantwal govt hospital spoiled the case and at the last hour referred to Wenlock
    So govt hospital should be blamed
    But believe it not as per the latest law made by Siddaramaiyya govt in 2017 No case can be filed against Govt hospital

    sri-elder karkala,why should govt.hospital should be closed?where will the poor people should go according to you?Afterall all people who go to Govt hospital dont die.It is the basic treatment that fails and they simply push the patients to Govt.hospital.Afterall the govt hospital too cannt do anything when last minute cases comeinside.why did they not mention what was wrong with child?Simply hang drip and later her condition got bad shift?It is a bad habit in mangalore to shift patient last minute.They didnt tell what was with her wrong with her blood.may be it was a bad infection she had.Poor child.Pity her parents.Heartfelt sympathy to them may her soul rest in peace.Hope it will be cleared soon.
