Bantwal: Police raid sand mining den, assets worth over Rs 11 lac seized

Bantwal, Oct 16: Police ASP Sonawane Hrishikesh Bhagavan, Bantwal rural police station sub inspector and staff on definite information raided an illegal sand mining den at Ajilamogru on Tuesday, October 16 and found sand being loaded to tipper lorry with the help of two country boats.

The police confiscated the tipper lorry worth Rs 8 lac and sand worth Rs 500 which was filled in it, and two iron boats worth Rs 2,80,000, petrol engine used to run them worth Rs 80,000 and about two loads of sand loaded in them worth Rs 12,000.

The approximate total value of items confiscated is Rs 11,72,500 which have been handed over to the department of mines and geology for further action.

ASP Sonawane Hrishikesh Bhagavan, circle inspector T D Nagaraj, Bantwal rural police station inspector Prasanna and staff took part in the operation.
