Mangalore, Nov 7: The decennial celebrations of the post graduation courses in homoeopathy at Fr Muller Homeopathic Medical College (FMHMC) were held at the college auditorium in Deralakatte on Friday November 7.

Speaking on the occasion, Bishop Aloysius Paul D'Souza of Mangalore who presided over the function noted that the biggest advantage of consuming homoeopathic medicines is that they do not cause side effects. There is a need to spread the advantages of this method of treatment among people and make it more popular, he opined.  He exhorted the homoeopathic medical students to attract more and more people towards homoeopathy by keeping them informed and providing good treatment.

Fr Muller Charitable Institutions director Fr Patrick Rodrigues said that the homoeopathic method of treatment is witnessing an annual growth of around 25% globally and informed that the union government is planning to earmark a sum of Rs 100 crore for the study and research in this system of treatment. On its part, Karnataka government is envisaging opening of homoeopathic clinics at district and taluk headquarters, he added.

Central Council of Homeopathy president Dr Ramjee Singh and MLA U T Khader, were the chief guests of the occasion.  FMHMC administrator Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, and FMHMC principal Dr S K Tiwari were present on the occasion.

The PG course in homoeopathy was started in 1998 in Materia Medica, Organon and Repertory. In 2007, MD courses in practice of medicine, pharmacy, pediatrics, and psychiatry, were also started.

To the best of my knowledge and memory, the Homeopathy Dept. of Fr.Muller's (formerly Charitable Institute...and now...) Hospital was headed for many long years by one Dr.V.D'Souza...but no mention of his name on the occasion of DeCennial Celebration reminds me the typical Konkany proverb "Kaam Zalen, Voiz Melo".....Am I right???
