Raichur: Sabarimala row - Minister Khader seeks ordinance to negate SC judgement

Daijiworld Media Network - Raichur (SP)

Raichur, Oct 21: State minister for urban development and housing, U T Khader, felt that the union government can interfere in the imbroglio caused by the Supreme Court verdict on entry of women into Sabarimala shrine. He urged the central government to promulgate an ordinance and end the conflict once and for all.

"Devotees are involved with ferocious fight at Sabarimala. BJP leaders have become silent spectators to this development. The central government should first take a stand on whether to obey the Supreme Court verdict or not,” he said.

“The parliament has the potential and power to take practical view and solve the dispute arising out of the verdict allowing women of all ages to enter Sabarimala shrine," he stated.

He also reminded that the decision to pass ordinance had been taken on the issues of Jallikattu and Kambala in the recent past when Supreme Court orders went against them.

We should keep this decision pending for next generation. We tried this time and it bounced back. As time goes people may change. By force anything cannot be achieved.

This case has been lingering in the Supreme Court since 2006. The Judgement was issued by a Division Bench of the Supreme Court of five members headed by the Chief Justice. Onle one Judge disented with the Judgement.

The BJP, RSS, Subramanian Swamy and Maneka Gandhi all welcomed the Judgement initially and back tracked subsequently to derive poiltical capital out of the issue which is not fair. Given that they have their own Govt at the centre, they could have arranged to issue an ordinance rather than take advantage and disturb the Peace in Kerala. Opportunists and yet another great example of their double speak.

We are in the 21st century and could consider entry of women to Temples may be in an odd/even day arrangement. There are about 21 review petitions in the Supreme Court against the 22nd September Judgement and what if the Supreme Court after hearing these review petitions orders status quo of the 22nd September Judgement.

Modi is worried that supporting Sabarimala Temple protests openly, may give opposition, another weapon to attack it for being anti-women, now in election time. He is letting BJP's Kerala unit spearhead the Sabarimala Temple showdown, afraid his own participation, unlike in triple talaak, may land the party on the wrong side of the gender equality debate. Swaminathan Aiyar asked Bhagwat "Do only Muslim women should get right, and why Hindu women's right is neglected ?"
Khader saab, Modi will neither talk nor act, because of political compulsions.

Before center taking a stand the State Govt is required to take a firm stand. The state govt goes on changing its stand for the last 10 years whether it is UDF or LDF. Even after Apex Court took a decision State Govt was in double mind either file a revision petition or not. Initially they said they r not going to file but after 18th they said they r going to file revision petition. Since 15th CM Kerala has gone to Abu Dhabi. Do you think a responsible CM will be outside the country when his State is facing such a big crisis?. More over the TDB never filed any statement to Apex Court during hearing? Why because it is controlled by chaddiless either during UDF or LDF because both party r famous for divide and rule

I can sense why muslims are supporting Sabarimala row and want ordinance to negate, as they know in the next term of modi, Uniform civil code is to be passed and that will have a huge effect on male dominated islam.

Khader or the congress should not get involved in this issue. This is about gender equality and the Supreme Court has addressed this with its decision. When it came to triple talaq and Burka issue, everyone including the BJP and the RSS jumped into the fray ignoring Muslim traditions and sentiments. If you ten were quoting and backing the supreme court decisions then, why are you going against the same court's decision now? Now when it comes to gender equality they are quoting customs and traditions and giving other bizarre explanations. Dowry, Sati, Untouchability, child marriage, Khap panchayat were also customs and traditions. Do we continue with these evil practices just because they were customs and traditions?

Religion does not differentiate between man and woman. All are equal before God. These customs and traditions are man made. Every devotee irrespective of gender has the right of worship and zealots do not have the right to stop them. The Supreme Court has given its decision. If you do not like it file a review petition, but do not take law into your own hands.

    Dear Satya,
Talak nd Sabarimala issues u can't compare. Talak is the worst practice. This issue is as similar as ur women's are restricted to enter masjid. All religions have blind practices which doesn't have sense but religious oriented people explain simply nonsense. You don't allow women to enter ur masjid just that ur gents get distracted. If ur gent's get distracted, why ur women have to b deprived of entry. Those who cannot concentrate nd pray they must not enter in to masjid. It is ur gent's hv to sacrifice not ur women.

Also don't point out other religions as ur religion is 100% right. All have wrong practices from its existence.

Tell The Truth, Mangalore, it's not a minority majority issue, but why Khadar should comment on such issue. It is none of his business in Karnataka whether he is minority or not.

Sir, there isn't any necessity for an ordinance now.
The few activists have returned back. The devotees are capable of convincing the intruders and sending them back.
Thanks to your party leaders like Ramesh Chennithala and Sudhakaran for standing with Kerala BJP to support the devotees.

There is vast difference between 3 TQ and SANNIDAN issue. There is no such 3TQ in most of the Muslim countries or in many countries it has been banned. Where as SABRIMALE is the custom based on scientific reasons. Even in Japan in a particular temple women r not allowed
