Bangalore: Billawa Association Celebrates 32nd Anniversary

Bangalore, Nov 9: Billawa Association Bangalore® celebrated its  32nd anniversary  on Sunday  November 2,  2008 at Sri Puttanna Chetty Town Hall Bangalore. The programme  started at 3.00 pm  and continued till  10.00 pm.
 
The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest  P M Ashok, MLA from  Ramadurga Constituency,  followed by lighting of the lamp by the chief guests of the evening  Prakash Rathod, KPCC general secretary, Prasanna  and  Umesh  Kuckian president Billawa's Dubai, Vedakumar, president of Billawa Assoociation Bangalore and   Rajkumar, president of Guru Seva Samithi, Bahrain.
 
More than 1500 Billavas attended the program.

President of Billawas Dubai and  NE, Umesh Kuckian  and  Prasanna Kuckian, were  felicitated by P M Ashok and the citation  was read by C K Suvarna.  Ex-president and comittee members of Billawa Association Bangalore were also felicitated along with Rajkumar, president of Guru Seva Samithi, Bahrain.

A well made souvenir to commemorate the occcasion,  was released by Prakash Rathod.





President  Vedakumar  in his speech,  appreciated the  Billawas Dubai, for being the only organization outside India, which has come forward to help the needy people and the deserving students by way of scholarships. He also praised  the hard work done by the association  over the years, as a result of which it  today,  has grown into a  very well known community forum.

Umesh Kuckian in his speech,  called for  the formation of a separate medical college for the Billawas and declared that in the coming year,  the scholarships worth atleast 10 lac will be distributed by the Billawas Dubai as  compared to Rs 7 lac  this year. "We must serve  the community selflessly rather than expecting benefits  from the community," he emphasised . He also thanked all the committee members of Billawas Dubai and NE for their continued support and hard work 

Dances by children and group dance by elders  formed parts of the  entertainment programme. However the highlight of the evening was Bhoota Kola of Tulunadu.
