Mangaluru, Nov 3: A major mishap was averted after a tanker of a ship at New Mangaluru port broke and more than 150 litres of oil joined the sea here on Saturday, November 3.

The mishap occurred in M V Express Brahmaputra ship that sailed from Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The accident occurred when the ship was returning after loading the container at NMPT port.

As per reports, the ship was being taken from port jetty by the tug. As the tanker in the ship hit the wall of the jetty, oil from it leaked.

The staff of the ship and locals who became alert immediately, prevented the leakage and made sure that the oil did not spread in the sea.
