Army chief visits Central Command HQ at Lucknow


Lucknow, Nov 17 (IANS): Army chief General Bipin Rawat on Saturday visited the headquarters of the Central Command and the 11 Gorkha Rifles Regimental Centre at Lucknow, an official spokesman said.

He arrived in the state capital on Friday to attend the "Uttarakhand Mahotsava", which was inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Rawat was briefed by Lieutenant General Abhay Krishna, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Central Command, on various operational and administrative aspects.

General Rawat expressed satisfaction on the efforts being made to ensure capability enhancement and operational effectiveness of the forces and development of infrastructure in the central sector, the official said.

He conveyed his appreciation to the Surya Command for achieving a high degree of operational preparedness.

During his visit he also attended "Welfare Association Meet" held at 11 Gorkha Rifles Regimental Centre.
