Rs 1.5-crore gold seized at Lucknow airport


Lucknow, Nov 17 (IANS): The customs department on Friday seized gold worth Rs 1.52 crore from a passenger at the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow, police said on Saturday.

According to customs officials, the gold was hidden inside an electric press by a passenger on board the Air India flight from Dubai.

The seizure was made by a customs department team led by Deputy Commissioner Niharika Lakha. The passenger, Shambhu Chauhan, has been placed under arrest.
