Mumbai, Nov 24: Model Co-Operative Bank Limited distributed scholarships to more than 70 children of the bank’s shareholders, in a function held at St Xavier’s Institute of Engineering, Mahim (West), on Saturday November 22.
S G Kirloskar, principal, St Xavier’s Institute of Engineering, was the chief guest who distributed the scholarships. He also said that there was a great need to inculcate human values among students.
Albert W D’Souza, chairman, Model Co-operative Bank, said that the scholarships serve as a boon to talented students. Students who received the scholarships and their parents should consider it a support for their endeavours. Education is the asset which no one can conquer or steal, he emphasized.
John D’Silva, president of Mangalore Catholic Education Credit Society Limited and founder Model Co-operative Bank, said that the scholarship recipients should acknowledge the foresight of our ancestors in instituting the fund for future generation of community students.
Model Co-operative Bank directors Paul Nazareth, Philip Pinto, Marita D’Mello, and Benedicta B Rebello, were present on the dais. Frank R Lewis, chief executive officer and general manager of the bank, and deputy general manager William R D’Souza were also present.
Edward Rasquinha welcomed the gathering and compered the programme. Rayan Branco read the names of scholarship recipients. Biata Carvalho proposed vote of thanks.
