Train derails in UP


Lucknow, Nov 22 (IANS): Seven coaches of a passenger train derailed in Uttar Pradesh disrupting traffic on the busy Moradabad-Bareilly route on Thursday, an official said.

Six coaches along with the guard coach were headed to Bareilly for some repairs when they derailed around midnight near Dhamora.

Guard Satish Chandra was critically injured and was rushed to a Moradabad hospital, the official told IANS.

Many trains were re-routed while efforts were underway to restore the traffic.

The Delhi-Faizabad Express, Padmawat Express, Lucknow Mail, Gareeb Rath, Dehradun-Varanasi Express, Doon Express were among the 23 trains to be diverted.

Six trains between Delhi-Sitapur, including the up and down Intercity were cancelled.

Many trains from Lucknow, including Satyagrah Express, Gareeb Rath Express, New Delhi-New Jalpaiguri Express, Saheed, Janata and Kisan Expresses, besides the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh express were re-routed through Chandausi.
