IAF chief reviews security scenario in northeast


Shillong, Nov 22 (IANS): Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa on Thursday reviewed the security scenario in the northeast with commanders from the Eastern Air Command, an official said.

Dhanoa, who inaugurated the Commanders' Conference here in Meghalaya, updated the commanders on the security scenario and infrastructure in the northeastern region.

The Chief of the Air Staff exhorted all field commanders for determined contribution towards the endeavour of the organisation to upgrade the operational capability of Eastern Air Command.

He also stressed on the importance of leadership, team building and discipline, which are pivotal in pursuit of achieving the operational goals.

Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Air Command Air Marshal Raghunath Nambiar introduced the commanders to him.

Headquartered in Shillong, the Eastern Air Command's area of responsibility covers 11 states.

During the conference, the Air Chief Marshal awarded trophies to the Commanders for achieving excellence in the fields of Operations, Maintenance and Administration.

Air Force Station, Guwahati was awarded the 'Pride of EAC' Trophy for standing best in overall performance and Air Force Station. Salua in West Bengal was awarded the 'Best Non-Flying Station'.
