Margao, Nov 26: Police on Sunday November 23, arrested one Abdul Kadir alias Munna, native of Dharwad in Karnataka, along with two others for allegedly attempting to kidnap a minor student from St Juze de Areal.

They also confiscated Kadir’s Qualis vehicle. According to police, the incident occurred  on Saturday evening, when the schoolboy was on his way home from the playground.  A rickshaw bearing the registration number GA 08 V 0001 stopped near him and a person pulled him inside.

As the boy jumped out in a bid to free himself from the abductors, he was hurt. Two months ago, a girl student from Margao was kidnapped and later freed after being injected an anesthetic. Police are investigating if the two incidents are related in any way.

Commotion prevailed in the area after the abduction attempt and the locals demanded a speedy investigation and arrest of the assailant. A tip-off from the locals led to the arrests while they were driving around the area in the Qualis. Margao police are investigating the case.
