New Delhi, Nov 24 (IANS): A winter art show by over 130 artists working in Garhi in the national capital was inaugurated on Saturday at the National Academy for Visual Arts, Lalit Kala Akademi (LKA).
The group show 'Garhi Winter Show 2018' displays over 250 artworks -- paintings, sculptures, graphics, ceramics -- by over 130 artists currently working at LKA's regional centre at Garhi.
"The Garhi artists' studios came up in 1976 with the Delhi Development Authority alloting four-acre land with an aim to promote art.
The studios have given the capital artistes such as Gogi Saroj Pal, Arpana Caur, Subodh Gupta, Bharti Kher, Dattatraya Apte, Jayant Gajera and several others.
"At present, over 350 senior as well as young artistes are practising at the centre," said LKA chairman and prominent sculptor Uttam Pacharne said at the opening.
The exhibition, open for public viewing till December 3, was inaugurated by North MCD (Delhi) Mayor Adesh Kumar Gupta, and Culture Ministry Joint Secretary Nirupama Kotru.
