Bali ship capsize: Search on for 7 missing crew


Bali, Nov 25 (IANS): A cargo ship carrying 14 crew members sunk in waters off Bali coast in Indonesia, rescuers said they were searching for seven crew members on Sunday.

KM Multi Prima One cargo ship heading to Waingapu town of East Nusa Tenggara province capsized in Bali Gulf after leaving waters off Surabaya, head of communication for media of national search and rescue office Yusuf Latief told Xinhua.

The search was underway in a radius of 200 nautical miles from the site of the capsize.

The seven crew who survived were rescued by Cahaya Abadi 201 ship, which was passing by the spot, according to him.

Sea water transport is key to Indonesia, a vast archipelagic country home to over 17,500 islands. However, lack of safety standard keeps triggering such incidents.
