'Nightingale of Goa' Lorna Cordeiro rocks at Orbital Nite in Doha

Doha, Nov 30: Lorna Cordeiro’s fans crammed into Giwana Ballroom at Radisson Blu here on November 23 to witness the 'Nightingale of Goa', in an event titled 'Orbital Nite 2018' organised by Orbit Events and Marketing which was an astounding success. 

Most of her fans comprising of second and third generations who had never seen her, but had grown up listening to her famous songs played zealously by their parents, enjoyed the evening packed with wonderful performances, not only from Lorna, but who was accompanied by the very talented Norman Cardozo on the keyboard. 

 

The programme kicked off with DJ Glorio warming up the audience with some ballroom music which was then taken over by DJ Ryan Nogar with some retro English renditions from DJ Ryan Nogar, a winner of All India DJ Master Mixer. As one of the most popular and versatile DJs in Goa and abroad, Ryan Nogar being the best at what he does, provided sheer entertainment.

The enthusiastic fans welcomed Lorna on stage with a resounding applause screaming Lorna, Lorna. The diva glided across the stage singing flawlessly and thanking the Almight for the gift of her voice. It was a standing ovation from the crowd with her 'Aikat Mojo Tallo' which swept the crowd off their feet. Super Sparklers performed to her song Lisboa, TuzoMog and Nachom-iaKumpasar.

The evening witnessed an enchanting repertoire of songs. Haitham Rafi an Omani national who won DilHai Hindustani on Star Plus was an added attraction. He began in Arabic and then moved onto Hindi songs. Haitham mesmerised the crowd in the jam packed hall. A highlight of the evening was Lorna's interaction and photo session with guests and their families.

The novelty of Lorna, who began her career as a jazz singer, is her intense mellifluous voice which along with popular Chris Perry compositions, have seen her performing for fans world over including the Middle East, USA, UK, France, Portugal, Africa and recently New Zealand. 

Chief guest of the evening Dr R Seetharaman, CEO of Doha Bank Group felicitated Lorna and honoured the other artistes Norman Cardozo, Haitham Rafi, DJ Ryan Nogar and Updeshswar. Dr Seetharaman was impressed with Lorna’s electrifying voice. He said, "Doha Bank will always support the Indian community for such shows and in particular Goans and assured he will always be part of Orbit Events and Marketing in their forthcoming events. 

Ace compere Updesh Swar kept the show alive in his usual style. Guests were treated to several spot prizes and lucky entrance gifts. 

The entire show was a novelty. As people filed out of the auditorium, the huge impact Lorna had created and the success of the show was evident on their smiling faces and the seemingly endless queue to have selfies and photos with Lorna. 

Orbit Events and Marketing take credit for offering the guests a mega event that was superbly organised from start to finish.
