Mangaluru, Dec 1: The police have launched a manhunt for Ambika Nayak, who has been accused of arranging to make calls to her husband, posing life threats to him and coercing him into parting with one crore rupees, and her friend, B Manjunath, through whom these calls were made. Both are absconding as of now.

As Ambika's father, Vasudev Prabhu, is a senior citizen, he has not been remanded to judicial custody. However, the judge has instructed him to appear in the first chief judicial magistrate's court here every day and be present in the court from 10 am to 6 pm.

As such, Nayak has been travelling from Ananth Nagar Manipal to the city everyday with his wife in the morning and returning in the evening.

Vasudev Prabhu was arrested on November19. When he was produced in the court, the court did not remand him to judicial custody considering his advanced age. He was instructed to be present in the court from morning to evening for a week or till he secures bail.

Although it has been more than a week since, he continues to appear in the court everyday as he has failed to secure bail, police sources confirmed.

When married daughter of this gentleman was hatching such heinous plans against her husband, father should have been guided her, advised her, made her to understand that what she is doing wrong. Her mother would have guided her.
Instead parents supported their daughter. They should have sent the daughter abroad to live with her husband. Now senior citizen. He too joined with his daughter along with her illegal boyfriend. He too equally responsible in cheating his son in law. He doesn't want son in law but wants his money. So sad
